    The Year Ahead in SUMMIT

    When we’re talking to prospective students at their high schools, college fairs and during campus visits, we talk a lot about SUMMIT, Agnes Scott’s signature four-year experience based on global learning, leadership development and professional success. However, we do understand that it can be difficult to visualize what that will actually look like for you once you begin your Agnes Scott experience.

    SCALE: Preparing Students for the Future

    SCALE, the Sophomore Class Atlanta Leadership Experience, is a critical piece of Agnes Scott’s distinctive SUMMIT program. During this week-long experience, all Agnes Scott sophomores complete an externship at Atlanta-area businesses and non-profit organizations to focus on leadership, collaboration and career development skills. Some notable establishments our Scotties have worked with are AT&T, Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta Community Food Bank and BlackRock.

    A Year in SUMMIT

    As we entered the school year in August 2021, it was with high hopes that students would be able to return to the full SUMMIT experience that makes Agnes Scott unique. While adjustments had to be made and flexibility remains the name of the game, students at Agnes Scott this year took full advantage of the SUMMIT experience.

    Why We Journey

    What It’s Like to Journey I looked down at the water below me. I looked over at the students waiting around me, some anxiously, some excitedly. I looked at the guide, who had already told me in French that I needed to jump. I thought about all the ways in which my excessively clumsy self could get hurt jumping off of this outcropping of rocks. Then I mentally reviewed in my head all of the reasons I had made it to this point. When I was asked to co-lead the first-year Global Journeys trip to Martinique, I immediately said yes.
