Preparing for the College Fair Season

An exploration of college fairs and the Colleges That Change Lives organization

While the admissions counselors here at Agnes Scott are attending college fairs to meet with high school students year round, the official start of the college fair season will kick off for us at the end of this month with the Colleges That Change Lives college fairs.

If you’ve never heard of the CTCL organization, it’s a great option for your college search process. CTCL began in 1996 when longtime New York Times education editor published his Colleges That Change Lives book, highlighting forty small liberal arts colleges and dispelling myths about the college admission process. Agnes Scott College was one of the institutions featured in that book, and in 1998 joined with other colleges mentioned in the book to form the CTCL organization.

The organization, currently made up of 44 colleges and universities, is focused on supporting a student-centered college search process. While all 44 colleges are very different (Agnes Scott is the only inclusive women’s college in the group, for example), they are all very focused on student-centered education. You can learn about all the CTCL schools here, or, if you happen to live near San Diego (CA), Los Angeles (CA), San Jose (CA), San Francisco (CA), Seattle (WA), Portland (OR), Houston (TX), Austin (TX), Dallas (TX), Chicago (IL), St. Paul (MN), Denver (CO) or Nashville (TN), you could join Agnes Scott at the college fairs!

If you will be joining us at this college fair or any other, you may have some questions about what to do at a college fair. We wanted to do a round up of our blog posts that may help you prepare so you don’t have to dig through the archives yourself!
